During hair transplant surgery, you are both the donor and recipient during the procedure with hair being removed from the donor zone in the back of your head where your hair is genetically programmed to grow for life.
There are two methods of harvesting your donor hair:
- Strip Harvesting in which a strip of tissue is removed and then the individual follicular units are dissected underneath a microscope.
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) in which grafts are harvested individually.
During (FUE) Follicular Unit Extraction the follicular units are harvested from the donor area individually using the manual SAFE System or The ARTAS® System and do not need to be dissected under a microscope.
